Our Staff: Instructor Sal Caldarone 

Sal Caldarone is a professional artist with a studio and gallery in the heart of Bergen County in Waldwick, New Jersey. Born in Montella, Italy in 1939, Sal came to the United States in 1954 and settled in Paterson, NJ. In 1960, he was hired by the Hiemer Studio in Clifton, where he was trained as a stained glass artist. Some of the windows that he worked on can be seen in local churches such as St. Paul in Ramsey, St. Phillip in Clifton, Lady of Consolation in Wayne, St. Paul in Prospect Park, as well as in many churches through-out the United States.Sal has regularly been selected for national juried shows including the North East Watercolor Society, Audubon Artists, Allied Artists of America, Hudson Valley Art Association, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Rhode Island Watercolor Society and for many regional juried shows. He is a signature member of the North East Watercolor Society and elected member of the New Jersey Water Color Society. He has won many awards and in 1997, he was chosen as one of twelve finalists out of more than five hundred artists nationwide competing for the Grumbacher Hall of Fame Award. His work was featured in the 1997 Grumbacher calendar. Sal's paintings can also be found in numerous private collections throughout the United States and Europe. Although most of Sal's commissions are portraits, he likes to paint different subjects using various mediums. He is particularly fond of working with watercolor and oil.  In 1997, Sal's lifelong dream came true with the construction of C & S Studio. The studio is located at 40 East Prospect St. in Waldwick, NJ, where Sal instructs children and adults in artistic techniques ranging from drawing to painting. C & S Studio is entering its 27th year of activity.
